ARTWORK: Mark L’Argent’s art is a fusion of contemporary hand lettering, fine art, collage and print disciplines that explore and express the nature of human relations through words, language and poetry, philosophy, found objects and recycled ephemera.
Mark is a classically trained and qualified Calligrapher, Illuminator and Designer. Drawing on the traditions of historical lettering, Mark combines contemporary,  expressive and inventive forms with colour & design. Using language, words & letters as a jumping off point, often using his own poetry and creative writing, the duality of the work is a constant theme where the irregular sits alongside the tranquil, the insistent contrasts with the serene, and where the romantic & sensual butts up against the abstract.

Mark is an elected member of The Art Worker’s Guild, London.  His artwork widely exhibited and included in the Royal Archive at Windsor. He runs a mentoring program for those new to ‘lettering’ or calligrapher’s at any stage of their career, as well as workshops & masterclasses from his Essex studio, and across the UK & abroad.

COMMERCIAL WORK: Mark’s studio undertakes a wide variety of public & private commissions, traditional & contemporary, including: in Business & Commerce: unique logos & letterheads, in Advertising: branding & fonts, in Marketing: book jackets & CD covers, in TV & Film: props & ephemera, in Events: Personalised stationery, menus, table plans & wedding stationery packages…
